"What makes a child gifted and talented may not always be good grades in school, but a different way of looking at the world and learning."

                                                                ~Chuck Grassley~

Who Are the Gifted?

Did you know?

  • Einstein was four years old before he could speak and seven before he could read.
  • When Thomas Edison was a boy his teachers told him he was too "adled" to learn anything.
  • A newspaper editor fired Walt Disney because he had "no good ideas."
  • Isaac Newton did poorly in school.
  • Winston Churchill failed the sixth grade.

History is full of illustrations of people who were identified as low achievers in school or as misfits on their jobs and later were recognized for their creativity and accomplishments.

The Ministry of Education for the Province of Ontario Definition:

"those who have an unusually advanced degree of general intellectual ability such that differentiated learning experiences of a depth and breadth beyond those normally provided in the regular school program are required."
